Partnership with Children Statement on the School Shooting in Uvalde, Texas
Like the rest of the nation, we at Partnership with Children are sadly processing the profoundly tragic consequences of the massacre of 19 children and 2 teachers last week in Uvalde, Texas. To help the children we serve in New York City schools cope with their feelings of fear and vulnerability, we are grateful to our clinically-trained and Masters’-level social workers who bring their expertise and compassion to conversations with students and their teachers. On a broader scale, we pledge to continue our fierce advocacy of mental health services for children and their families, especially those who experience trauma through housing and financial insecurity, the effects of systemic racism, and the disproportionate losses from the COVID-19 pandemic. To the brave community of Uvalde, we send our love. To our New York communities, we are humbled to support you and your children with our enduring belief in humanity.
