OUR COMMITMENT TO ANTIRACISM

Partnership with Children publicly acknowledges that confronting systemic racism is mission-central. We strive to intentionally include Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in our program design, our work in NYC public schools, our hiring and retention practices and our personal and professional development. We commit to being life-long learners and advocates in creating and sustaining an antiracist organizational culture. We believe that systemic racism is a form of trauma that our staff must understand in order to provide effective counseling and community support services at our schools. We prioritize culturally-responsive education and strive to elevate the voices of our students and those who have been marginalized or silenced.

Five years ago, we established a DEI Council composed of a cross-section of our staff, representing every job level in the organization. The Council meets monthly under the guidance of our co-chairs and our newly hired Chief Equity and Strategy Officer. The Council helps us translate our values into antiracist action within the organization, and in the schools and communities where we work.

We recognize that an inclusive culture advances the quality of our work, accurately represents the communities we serve, and professionally develops our staff. We are proud that this value is reflected in the composition of both our staff and our Board of Directors.
