Partnership with Children Raises $800,000 at Spring Gala!
More than 430 supporters of Partnership with Children attended our Annual Spring Gala at the Mandarin Oriental, New York on June 3rd. The event, celebrating Partnership with Children’s groundbreaking work in the highest-poverty communities in New York City, raised $800,000 to provide trauma-informed counseling, crisis intervention, school-wide services, and family outreach to more than 17,000 public school students at the highest risk of academic failure and drop-out.
The event was emceed by Partnership with Children program alumni, Jose Mendez and Marcel Torres, and honored Bank of America’s Bridget O’Connor, MediaVest’s Christine Merrifield, and Bernstein Global Wealth Management’s Kim Isaacs Katz, for their outstanding commitment to the children of New York City.

During her remarks, Margaret Crotty, Executive Director of Partnership with Children, quoted Maya Angelou, “when you learn, teach, when you get, give”, describing the force that drives the Partnership with Children social workers every day. “Our social workers go into 54 schools every day, and provide counseling to students, socialization groups, teacher training and outreach to parents. Day after day, week after week, month after month. But really they are transforming lives of children, of their families, and of their communities.”
The audience was treated to a surprise performance from two Partnership with Children students. The students, who met while participating in our program at an Alternate Learning Center, wrote and performed a rap describing their Partnership with Children experience. They were an audience favorite, and their performance was a highlight of the evening.
