Margaret Crotty has joined Partnership with Children as its new Executive Director. Crotty brings with her a wealth of experience, successful leadership and innovation from her past work in education, public health and technology. She has a unique perspective, having served in executive leadership roles in both the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors.

Partnership with Children works with over 13,000 high poverty elementary, middle and high school students annually in 26 schools across all five boroughs of New York City. The agency’s program is unique in bringing teams of social workers to high-poverty New York City public schools to provide counseling, crisis management and capacity building, thus strengthening, stabilizing and turning schools around. Through systemic reform, the program creates positive classroom environments, increases attendance, reduces school incidents and suspensions and provides crucial support services for school leadership. In addition, the organization provides professional development opportunities around social and emotional learning for educators in NYC and other cities—scaling our unique solutions and lessons nationally.

Prior to joining Partnership with Children, Crotty launched Save the Children International’s $2 billion initiative to reduce child mortality in the developing world. Previously, she was the President and CEO of AFS-USA, which has provided intercultural exchanges for over 300,000 high school students since 1947. Crotty spent 7 years at the global corporation EF Education, the world’s largest privately-held education company, and lived in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Paris. She was on the founding management team of EF’s online education business and later served as President of EF’s higher education business.

Crotty has also served as the Executive Director of a workforce development agency in New York City and Washington, DC, and ran the online education division of the Reader’s Digest Association. She has worked in Indonesia on two occasions, for McKinsey and Company and Save the Children.

Crotty graduated with honors from Princeton University and earned an MBA from Harvard Business School. She currently serves on the boards of her Young Presidents Organization (YPO) chapter Princeton AlumniCorps, St. Mark’s School of Harlem, and the Convent of the Sacred Heart. She is a Princeton Project 55 Mentor, chairs the Emerging Non-Profit Leaders Program, and serves as a Special Advisor to Save the Children’s EVERY ONE Campaign.
