Schechter’s article highlights the importance of providing summer programming that effectively addresses the problem of summer learning loss among New York City’s highest-need students. Partnership with Children has run a Summer Quest program in the South Bronx for the past two years, and will begin it’s third year this July. In the article, Margaret Crotty, Executive Director of Partnership with Children, says “We all intuitively think there’s a lot of value, but to really show the academic effects, I think you need two to three cycles. Our hope is that the third year is really when you see the gains.”
