Partnership with Children, founded in 1908, provides critical counseling, school-wide services, and family and community outreach in over 30 high-poverty New York City public schools. The organization is at an exciting time in its history, having doubled in size over the last 3 years enabling us to serve more students, families and school communities. To continue this growth, Partnership with Children is looking for a new Special Events Manager to lead the coordination of fundraising and volunteer events.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Chief Development and Communications Officer (CDCO) and a growing development team to create and implement fundraising, engagement and cultivation strategies to increase private revenue from events
  • Conducting and coordinating logistical aspects of events including but not limited to a wine tasting, Board cultivation events, volunteer events and an Annual Gala
  • Oversee recruiting and managing of event volunteers, solicitation of ticket/table sales for events, and on-site event coordination
  • Identifying target audiences and building appropriate marketing and recruitment strategies for event participants and volunteers
  • Training and cultivating volunteers for events
  • Work with designer to create and coordinate promotional, marketing and social media activities
  • Stewarding existing sponsors and donors to maintain/increase their engagement and participation in volunteer events
  • Participating in annual budget planning process for special events, as well as monitoring and forecasting of each event/activity budget
  • Interact with Board and Committee members as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Commitment to demonstrating PWC’s organizational values of Collaboration, Continuous Learning, Going to Solution, Equity & Inclusion, and Passion
  • Bachelor’s degree required; at least 3 years of experience working in a development team in a comparably-sized nonprofit in an events role, preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of high-need communities and public schools as well as social service, education and behavioral health issues that impact students and their families, preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and manage fundraising and volunteer events
  • Demonstrated success in special events and corporate/foundation philanthropy
  • Exceptional communication skills (written, oral and presentation), with the ability to engage both donors and program colleagues
  • Familiarity with foundations and companies that fund youth development and education work in NYC
  • Experience overseeing projects; strong attention to detail; a professional and team-oriented style
  • Experience representing an organization externally and promoting its programs to individual and private donors
  • Hands-on experience with one or more donor management systems, Salesforce preferred
